Botticelli's Daughters

One of my favorite paintings from the Renaissance period is Alessandro Botticelli s (1445 - 1510) "Birth of Venus". I have a postcard of it on the wall of my studio. I imagined that one of Botticelli's daughters must have modeled as Venus. And then I decided that he probably had 3 daughters, Alessandra, Francesca and Sophia.

I select adults and children that I know as my models because of their nationality, coloring or age. I love the challenge of the portrait and I love mixing the colors of the tones of the skin and rendering the play of light as a part of expression.
